Meet Martha Francis, LCSW

Martha Francis, LCSW

I have over 12 years of experience helping people overcome mental health challenges so that they can enjoy meaningful and productive lives. I have specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy to relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety, Eye Movement Desensitizing and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, anxiety and loss, and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety.

I believe psychotherapy is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client. As the therapist, it is my responsibility to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment in which mutual trust and respect can develop. I will work with you to create a plan for solution-focused therapy to improve overall well-being, increase motivation and develop the insight and skills you need to make positive and meaningful change in your life.

I like helping people unravel the mental knots and contortions that entangle them. Breakthroughs in treatment come in many forms, even failures and setbacks. It’s important for me to help people identify and cast-off outgrown or limiting self-perceptions so that they can live full lives.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New Jersey and California. I earned an MSW from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. I have worked in variety of mental health settings including private practice, community mental health, military mental health and substance abuse treatment.
